X 39:2.RE 40/50 H.P. STEERING BOX.

We send you herewith a specimen of part T.2417 Clamping Bolt Pad for the 40/50 H.P. Steering Box. You will notice that it has collapsed in two or three places under the bending moment load imposed by the steering box clamping bolt.

Mr. Royce considers that the head of the bolt might be made the full length of the slot and be perhaps slightly increased in depth, so as to take over the bending moment duty, and use the aluminium only as a packing.

In accordance with his wishes, would you kindly have the alteration schemed.

E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
