| MINUTES OF WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING 8TH JULY 1921. Present - Wor {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hr Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} Hy {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Mr.Maddocks EFC {E. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Wor {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hr Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} Hy {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Mr.Maddocks EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} Hm {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} BY Sft {Mr Swift} With reference to Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 5/NJ7.7.21 (copies of which are attached for CJ. and R. {Sir Henry Royce} ,) we have 22 werke stock of dynamos in our place and we do not propose to use these any longer than the time taken to get the new larger ones, and it was also agreed that we should not take delivery of the 100 to 150 dynamos E.575 which Lucas have at their Works at present on order for us. With regard to Mr.Whitehead's suggestion that Messrs Lucas should undertake to build up 100 new dynamos of the 1" longer pattern, it was thought that their price of £19.10.0 was excessive and that they ought to be able to produce these dynamos for us for the sum of £17 each, and that Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} should ask them to agree. It was agreed by the Works Committee that instead of Lucas being asked to only manufacture 100 they should be asked to manufacture 200 of the longer type dynamos, at this price. WOULD CJ. AND R. {Sir Henry Royce} PLEASE GIVE A DECISION ON THIS QUESTION, SO THAT WD. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} MAY TAKE ACTION. We suggest for Mr.Royce's and CJ's consideration that we shall possibly want to ask Lucas to change 300 dynamos which are either in stock at the Works or on customers' cars, to the 1" longer type, and we think that Lucas are asking too much to change at £7.15.0. and we propose if R. {Sir Henry Royce} and CJ. agree, to make a proposal to Lucas to change these for £5 each. | ||
