| ENGINE. The engine power and acceleration remained good. Tappets are noisy; slight dynamo gear drive rattle. Engine runs very smoothly with no marked periods, creak again developed in engine mounting, found to be from the rear support of gearbox. (Ferodo bearing). GEARBOX. Synchromesh mechanism inclined to be sticky at times; quietness of gears good. STEERING. Sticks on left lock, stability good. The wheel joggles when held lightly. BRAKES. Effective, silent, front inclined to thump. PROGRESSIVE HYDRAULIC DAMPERS. There are no audible knocks. The progressive load is not suitable for the varying speeds. Work is being carried out to improve it, but better results would be obtained with lower rating road springs. REAR AXLE. Good for silence. Oil leak from OSR. into brake drum, i.e. new method of packing is fitted to axle shafts. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. Gave no trouble. GWH. {George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
