The riding in the rear of the car is considerably improved by increasing the damping. We find that an .062" hole is too much with an .0312" hole there is no audiable knocking and considerably more damping. With the oil feed to the rear springs, for touring purposes, stronger springs are necessary. The damping we should consider to be ample but with the present lubricated springs it cannot cope with them. We have examined these and find that the lubrication is working satisfactory.

We would propose, if you would agree, for test purposes to cut off for a time the lubrication to get the effect of increased friction in the springs.

X7655 The spare starter motor is now almost OK, the trouble is definatly, firstly the starter button is too stiff in operation, contacts not reliable, secondly alteration must be made to the steel of the motor shaft and the bearing material, thirdly more clearance must be allowed in the pinnion and the flywheel teeth. Too tight a mesh is fatal to the working of starter motor.

The oil leak from the rear engine bearing through the case is very bad. We find after our run on our straight road oil pours out of the under pan when the car is brought to a standstill. We shall reduce the oil pressure to see if any improvement can be obtained that way.

The overrun period of the Servo gears is so bad that immediate attention should be given to the manufacture of the gears. The fabric fitted to the Servo allthough it does not appear to be affected by the heat, is too lumpy in action.

The front brakes get to a dangerous state. We have doped them twice with parafin and oil.

We have not reported about the pistons knocks, as you are aware of them, but they are exceedingly bad when starting up from cold and may be the cause of the considerable oil consumption.

We have not however had any plugs oil up. Slow running test does not reveal any over lubrication.

The engine roughness does not feel to have altered.

We have received the Bijur pump. This will be fitted but the ratio of the drip plugs fitted are not correct.
