No. 2.

We find from actual measurements of a car that the clearances are as follows:-

7" for 895/135 wheels.
8" " 935/135 "

By attention to the undershield and springs the clearance might be increased by 3/4" to 7/8", and by substituting a new front axle and packing blocks under the rear axle a further inch of clearance could be obtained. Mr Royce, however, is very much against using blocks under the rear axle as the transmission is thrown out of line. If, however, these points are made use of the clearance would be brought up to -

8 3/4" for 895/135 wheels.
9 7/8" " 935/135 "

With reference to chassis 1875 (Morris) this is fitted with a large flywheel. It would be advisable to return it to us for changing to the smaller one. We should also need to change the engine coupling for one of the spring drive couplings, a number of which are now in hand in the works.
