The Hispano car has springs at each end of the side steering tube. They are balanced springs. When in the normal position each spring exe(Aero Engine)rts a load of 220 lbs. on the ball. They are double springs - one inside the other. The springs are 2" long, and each is set up .500".
On the standard 40/50 we are using balanced springs at each end of the side steering tube. The springs when compressed .050" give a load of 170 lbs. This means normally, in the case of the RR., the springs exe(Aero Engine)rt approximately 170 lbs. on the ball, and each spring has a rating of 340 lbs. .100" deflection.
In the case of the Hispano, the load is 220 lbs. on the ball normally, and the springs have a rating of only 43 lbs. - .100" deflection.
We are obtaining a range of springs which can be tested in the 40/50 side steering tube.
