X.8770 X.4219 X.8830 X.7770 X.5770 X.5880 X.180 LIST OF EXPERIMENTAL CARS. EAC.1. Originally the new 40/50 car. Phantom engine, 3-speed box, gusseted frame - 29" at front. Half elliptic rear springs, 48" front springs. New back axle. Engine and gearbox separate units. Layout - see N.sch.1374. This car was previously called the Seagull(Experimental EAC.1 aka Export chassis, Phantom I engine) and then the Export chassis. Only one has been built by Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} , and that not to above specification - but has :- Phantom engine and gearbox with EAC.1. propeller shaft, back axle and frame. EAC.1. has been replaced by EAC.7. EAC.2. This was our idea of a new engine in the 40/50, but it had many chassis changes so was cancelled by Sales. Specification - Phantom engine, 40/50 gearbox for subframe, standard torque tube axle, revised seating and steering positions. Frame extension at the rear to carry luggage grid. Layout - see N.sch.1457. One of these cars was built up practically to the above specification. EAC.3. This is the Silver Ghost(1907 40/50 historic RAC 15,000 miles trial) with F.W.B. EAC.4. This chassis was an EAC.2. having the engine, gearbox and clutch as a unit. Layout - see N.sch. 1750. Most of the design was completed but nothing made. EAC.5. This is an EAC.7. but it has a unit engine, gearbox and clutch. No layout made as yet. EAC.6. This was what we eventually agreed to sell in the place of EAC.2. It consists of a Silver Ghost(1907 40/50 historic RAC 15,000 miles trial) chassis with a New Phantom(Codename for PHANTOM I) engine, radiator with shutters. Sold as New Phantom(Codename for PHANTOM I) 'V' series. Layout - see Production drawing. EAC.7. As stated above this is a revised version of EAC.1. Frame 1" lower than standard. Phantom revised engine and revised gearbox 40/50. Half elliptic rear springs and EAC.1. axle. Revised seating and shortened bonnet with cast dash. Open prop. shaft with Mechanic's joints.
