| To Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hd. {Mr Hayward / Mr Huddy} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 3/KW.15.1.36. Mr. A.H.R. Fedden's Car. Mr. Fedden is sending his car in on the 20th for an overhaul. You will recollect the trouble we had with him originally with regard to squeaking brakes; we finally got him to remove his cycle type wings and have standard wings fitted, since when the trouble has not recurred. His outstanding complaint now is lack of power, though in other respects he sings the praises of the car. To overcome this complaint we suggested to C. that we should fit to his car when it comes in one of the 7 to 1 compression ratio cylinder heads which has run 10,000 miles on Lappin's car in England, and for which we have now no further use since experimentally we are no longer interested in the 3¼" bore. C. agreed that in view of the proximity of the changeover it might be policy if we supplied this to him at half price. At one time we were not amicably disposed towards Fedden because we found out that he was saying nasty things about the car, but since he now appears to be singing our praises we think it is as well to satisfy him if we can.
