Dear Sirs,

We would ask you to accept our apologies for the delay in answering the queries set forth in your letter of the 6th instant, this delay being due to the Motor Show.

Herewith you will find diagram of the exhaust system on the Hotchkiss 6 cylinder engine. The Citroen 6 cylinder engine has a similar exhaust.

The heating for the inlet is simply provided by contact with the exhaust. According to the engine, this heating may be more or less intense by the fitting of joints of different size orifices.

We must however bring to your notice a new tendency on the part of French Manufacturers as regards the heating of the inlet pipes.

RENAULT has shown at the Motor Show on their 6 cylinder Vivasport Model, an inlet pipe with variable heating. The device employed, in which we have collaborated, is derived from that mounted on the majority of American Cars.

In principle, the exhaust is central, A shutter allows this exhaust gas to circulate in the hot spot when the engine is cold or when the engine is idling.

When the engine is very hot and that its speed is high, the shutter closes the circulation of the exhaust gasses in the hot spot.

We think you will be interested in the 2 studies we have presented to our Customers, and which we are sending you by separate mail.

We hope this information will be of use, and remain, etc.
