Please receive herewith blueprints of G.CD.323 Modifications to Rear End of Gear Box. This scheme should be detailed in conjunction with G.CD.180 modification to gear box bearings, in order that the gearbox may be suitable for diamond boring. The 1.1865 diameter at the rear end of the 2nd. motion shaft (for the 2nd speed gear) has been increased to 1.249 - 1/2 diameter to provide a shoulder for the thrust washer. The facing for the rear covers has been moved back .075 to ensure adequate clearance between the rear bearing, and the nuts on the taper bolts holding the cone in position on the 2nd speed gear. The 3rd motion shaft is lengthened by .075 and the transmission shaft shortened by the same amount. DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
