| To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From G.W.H. Hotel de France Châteauroux Indre 42941 STEERING Steering with front wheels parallell dampers 60 lbs L and 60 Lbs HP new cross steering tube giving 7 lbs load. 2 1/2° lean of pivot. Tyre pressure 45 lbs sq. inch. The steering under these conditions is very steady. There are no oscillations of the steering wheel. SHOCKS ARE REDUCED 90%.. SELF CENTERING NONE. SLOW SPEED VERY HEAVY. CRITICAL SPEED 48 - 54 M.P.H. 10% SIGN OF JOGGLES. JELLYING HARDLY PERCEPTIBLE; 10% LESS SELECTIVE. BRAKES New cotton duck linings to servo. Other conditions as previous. SERVO FEELS SPONGY. 25% MORE BRAKING ON FRONT. 25% LESS SMOOTH IN ACTION. 30% TOO MUCH BRAKING ALL ROUND. With the 45° cams and shortened lever, other conditions the same. The feel of the foot brake is spongy and heavy increased by 15%. Brake pedal movement lost by approximatly 1". Braking 10% too much all round. Front braking the same proportion. Our test today on the steering will have to be gone over again. We have come up against some alteration to the contacts in the new cross steering tube which wipes the oil away, thus bringing up the load quickly and the results are not reliable. G.W.H. | ||
