WRAITH GEARBOX.

Two cases have now occurred in which 3rd. speed jumps out of gear on Wraith cars on the over-run. On 26.G.V1. the gear jumps out in a very short distance and on 27.G.V1. jumps out when descending a hill such as the Fenny Bentley.

Until we fitted the concertina type coupling on Ph.III. no car leaving the Works would pass this particular downhill test. As soon as this modification was carried out no trouble was experienced.

We therefore recommend that a concertina type coupling be instructed for Wraith as soon as possible, and that we make sure that it is fitted on the 100 cars following the first 6.
