[Body text]: Oil leak from Valve Rocker Cover Joint. An oil leak developed from the front end of the valve rocker cover past the cork joint. It was found that the two knurled fixing nuts were coming down solid on to the base of the studs before sufficient pressure was applied to the cover to make a satisfactory joint. This became apparent when the cork washer had thoroughly bedded down. It has been necessary to fit an extra washer between each knurled nut and the cover to obtain the necessary pressure. Cantilever Pedal Shaft. We are still in trouble with the various bolts working loose which hold the cantilever shaft. In our previous report we complained of the top bracket on the frame giving trouble and it was agreed to rivet over the one-bolt fixing. This bolt had not been attended to as requested and it has become loose. The following bolts have also become loose, and are indicated in attached sketch. 2 Bolts attaching flanged end of shaft to web of frame. 1 Bolt Clamping shaft in flanged end piece. 2 Bolts fixing Fork ends of diagonal stay. We would urge that the fitting of the pedal shaft, and diagonal stay bracket on frame, should receive special attention on production and that the bedding of the latter on the frame should be emphasised. We feel that the area of this face could well be increased at this point, and if acceptable a second fixing bolt introduced. ---------------- [Signatures/Initials]: GWH {George W.
