| - 2 - Mx. {John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} 12/G.4.10.38. miles had been run on experimental cars without trouble. This experience has been confirmed by examination of our own trials cars after 30,000 miles running. On the other hand there have been to date 27 cases of failure in service, with milages ranging from 1,500 to 36,000. Apart from trying plating of camshafts, there does not seem to be any other factor to explore. There are 700 Phantom lll chassis in existence and more being made. It appears to be advisable to go ahead with the scheme for barrel type tappets, which is already in existence, and if proved successful can be applied retrospectively at no more cost than the replacement of the present type. | ||
