25 HP. FLYWHEEL VIBRATION
& BALANCE WEIGHTS

Continuing our report He/Gry. {Shadwell Grylls} 6/WT.5.10.31. in which we stated that, with a thin flange flywheel and Chrysler balance weights giving full balance, (i.e. crank-shaft and big end), the flywheel vibration was entirely absent, we have now reduced the thickness of these weights to balance 2/3 of the total out of balance. These weights therefore, now balance the crankshaft only, and with them the flywheel vibration is still absent. We have shown previously that the flywheel is prevented from vibration by No.12 weight next to the flywheel, this weight being identical to both the Chrysler and the 8 weight scheme. We therefore expect similar results from the thin flywheel and a weight scheme fitted to the China(Experimental Engine) 10,000 miles test.
