The steering has been poor for joggles on anything but good roads throughout the mileage. We have had no sign of high speed wobble, but low speed wobbles have developed up on one occasion. The steering sometimes is very light, and returns sharply, the load taken at the periphery of the steering wheel at finish of mileage was 3 Lbs. The load on the cross steering tube ball ends has remained consistant after readjusting it at a mileage of 4312.

Front axle, Brakes & Pivots.

The front axle appears to be in a sound condition. The brakes have been free from squeaks and effective throughout the mileage. They have been adjusted up twice. The bearings of the pivots are in a very good condition; very little side movement can be detected. It has been necessary to tighten up the bolts holding steering levers to the pivots.

Front road springs.

These were 650 Lbs Firth's springs with clips integral with plates, fitted with Wefco gaiters F.58587. The O.S. spring top leaf broke at a mileage of 7671 miles. It was pointed out in a report to Derby, that the failure of this top leaf was caused primary by a letter J being stamped deeply cross wise on the leaf. Examination of all other leaves of spring were found to be in perfect condition. The N.S. front spring examined at finish of mileage appears to be in good condition. The spring clips were tightened up after taking over the car, and, they have since remained tight. The lubrication of the springs from the Wefco gaiters has been satisfactory. The rear lubricator of the Wefco gaiter is in a useless position, the oil gun cannot be attached to it, and, it also fouls the underside of frame when the spring rebounds.

Front & Rear hydraulic shock dampers.

The poundage of the hydraulic shock dampers has remained consistant. We had no further oil leaks from glands after attending to the gland packings and lostring the level of the oil. The level of the oil is in line with the underneath of the lever shaft. We fitted at a mileage of 8426 miles a new front shock damper to Arrgt Drg F.64500 to the O.S. this has operated satisfactory and no oil leaks has occurred. Springs fitted to low pressure valves giving a load of 60 Lbs. in hthe rear shock dampers improved the riding of the car. The brackets supporting the rear shock dampers have remained in good condition.

Clutch.

This has been smooth in action throughout the mileage. No slipping has taken place.

Gear box.

The gear box and gears have been satisfactory. There is a continual oil leak from cover where cut out control lever is attached.
