| barburettis 1036 To Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /RC. {R. Childs} c. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /CTS. {C. Trot Salt - Carburation} BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /RD.5/B.10.10.38. SOLENOID ON S.U. CARBURETTER. We are informed by the S.U. Co., that the current consumption of the solenoid in the starting carburetter on 12 volts is .8 of an ampere, with the minimum operating voltage - 8 volts. Will you please obtain one of these solenoids from Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /CTS {C. Trot Salt - Carburation} , and test in order to determine whether these figures are correct, and also what is the behaviour of the solenoid on lower voltages, since we know that it is very likely that the voltage available on the solenoid terminals will be below 8 under starting conditions. It appears that it is necessary to always switch on, since this circuit will be coupled to the ignition switch, before pressing the starter button. If the reverse is the case, it is anticipated that the carburetter solenoid will not work. The decreasing voltage test is to establish that the solenoid having worked, will stay put during the period when the voltage is low, due to the operations of the starter. BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /RD. | ||
