Adderley Park,
B'ham.

For the attention of Mr. Skinner.

Dear Mr. Skinner,

Thank you for the enjoyable time I had at your works yesterday.

I was glad to hear that increasing the heat to the hot spot improved your slow running. In order to reproduce your results here, we should like to know how much of the fishtail has to be blanked off to get the desired results. It will, of course, be clear to you that we can never expect to get very much heat to the hot spot when we are warming up, though we shall certainly do better than with the pipe you have at present. Therefore we think it would be advisable for you to do some work on the pipe to see if you can find a better position for slow running cold.

Thank you for the S.U. pressure pump. We are going to use this for Bench tests. I should like to get hold of one of these pumps having the best finish you can manage, so that I can show it to Sir Henry Royce. Somebody will probably be seeing him in the middle of next week. If therefore, you can let us have one of these pumps with a hot pressed top etc, we could arrange to take it down to him. I am passing you an official order for this pump.

cont'd. {John DeLooze - Company Secretary}
