| (5) 19. GEARBOX OIL THROWER. If the oil thrower on the 3rd. motion shaft could be deleted there would be a saving of: Material . 4. Nett labour 1. 0. Total nett saving 1. 4. Same remarks apply as to item 16. 20. GEARBOX OIL CATCHER. Arranged under the gearbox cover is an oil catcher (652964) fixed on a perforated steel plate (652958). If it can be arranged by alteration to design to delete these which are not used on P. 2. the saving would be: Material . - 5½ Nett labour 1. - 11 Total nett saving 1. 6¼ Same remarks apply as to item 16. 21. GEARBOX STUDS. The majority of the studs used on 20/25 gearbox are of the 2 diameter type. P. 2. has ordinary plain studs screwed direct from ground bars. If the 2 dia. studs are substituted by plain studs the saving would be: Material 2 Nett labour 3d Total nett saving 5d Same remarks apply as to item 16. 22. GEARBOX CASTING. The 20/25 casting is more complicated in shape than P. 2. If P. 2. type were scaled down for 20/25 there would be appreciable savings in moulding time, machining time, assembly time, and scratch brushing time. Same remarks apply as to item 16. 23. CARBURETTER. This is now being made in gunmetal but is being tried out experimentally made of aluminium. If this is adopted there will be a saving of: Material 3. - Nett labour 10½ Total nett saving 4. 2½ Now on 10,000 mile test. | ||
