| To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From G.W.H. X2941 83 Hotel de France Châteauroux Indre 3/5/29 STEERING We reported yesterday that our steering tests were unreliable. We found that the load on the new cross steering tube was not consistant and going in to the matter we find that the bronze contacts have been made minus the milled recess for feeding the oil round the ball. The load previous to the test taken at the steering wheel was 7 lbs. Tested again after the run, it had gone up to 10 lbs. We tried it again and the results were the same, so therefore the bronze contacts should have the milled recess as fitted to 22 EX. To obtain definite results we are using the bronze contacts out of the original tube. The loading of this tube we find to be consistant but you must allow for 7.25% more friction after first fitting up it then remains at this load. The results of our test under these conditions are as follows. G.W.H. | ||
