To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re 19-EX. Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 8/E21.2.33
Copy to Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}

Referring to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 3/MJ.20.2.33 and Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 4/MJ.20.2.33 I am very sorry to hear of the bad accident to 19-EX and of the injuries to the two men, Taylor and Roberts, but glad to know that they are no worse than indicated in the report received.

Regarding the car when you receive it back at Derby, I think we ought to consider seriously the question of whether it is worth going to the expense of re-building it or whether it would be best to delete it and write it off.

A great deal of course depends on how much it would cost to repair it.

On the question of your having 85-JS {Mr Johnson's Secretary} , late 27-EX, I presume in asking for this you are satisfied that you cannot make use of one or other of the experimental cars that you already have, ie. 20-EX or 22-EX. Please let me have information on this point.

The reason I ask is because we naturally do not want to make another car into an experimental one if we can avoid it as it generally means that we have to write them down very severely.

If, however, it is clear that you must have 85-JS {Mr Johnson's Secretary} , the position is that we should be unable to release it for two or three weeks as it is in commission with one of the inspectors.

There is a new car coming through for the inspector but it is not yet qhite ready.

Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}
