Dear Mr. Hives,
The last four tyres you so kindly tested on your cars in France were returned here this morning and have been examined by myself and our tyre experts.
We are unanimously of the opinion that these tyres have been run at at least 10-15 lbs higher pressures than necessary for the weight of the car used, as in two instances the centre of the tyre has been worn away to such an extent that the under ply of the cord has been reached, leaving tread rubber on the shoulders of very considerable depth.
It is due to the too high inflation pressures that the tyres have not flexe(Aero Engine)d sufficiently to bring the shoulders into contact with the road as the tyre rotated and incidentally, this same excessive inflation is undoubtedly the cause of the hard riding your testers complain of.
Yours truly,
RAPSON TYRE AND JACK COMPANY.LIMITED.,
