X. 8205 Please find herewith blueprint of LeC.2232 shewing the above revised in accordance with your suggestions. We think the alterations make a nice looking straightforward job. It has one or two possible disadvantages compared with the original scheme, as follows, but they are not of much importance :- (1) LeC.2232 has one more oil joint than LeC.2214. (2) All the valves are accessible on LeC.2214 by removing the top cover and one joint pipe, whereas on LeC.2232 the whole unit must be removed from the engine to get at the valves. As regards item (2) it would no doubt be better in each case to remove the whole unit in case of trouble. Either of the two schemes should be an enormous improvement in accessibility on what we have now. With regard to arranging the valves with loose tail guides in case of trouble due to tipping we will watch this point. As a matter of fact we had already drawn some valves of this type but discarded them with the idea of trying the simple scheme first. Blueprint of LeC.2214 attached for comparison.
