| X3809 To the Experimental Dept. From CJ. Re Rims and Tyres. CJ7/E5/11/25 The following is an extract from a letter written by me to R:- 'With reference to your suggestion that we should do all 'in our power to adopt the new Dunlop rim, it was pointed 'out to you that this rim will not take any tyre except the 'special straight sided tyre with wire which is made by 'Dunlop's and is not made by any one else and, therefore, we 'could not advise our customers to adopt this rim and tyre 'unless suitable tyres could be obtained in foreign 'countries, the Colonies, etc. 'We, therefore, suggested that it might be better that 'the car, which was about to be tried in France, should 'not be fitted with these rims and tyres, which cannot be 'made standard, but should be fitted with rims and tyres 'which are standard. 'You agreed to this suggestion. 'We are asking the Works to send out to France standard 'rims and tyres to be fitted in substitution for the special 'Dunlop arrangement as we are anxious that the car should 'be tested on rims and tyres which are standard and which 'are inflated to the pressure which the Works advised us to 'put in our Instruction Book, namely, 50 lbs.' Please take action accordingly. CJ. | ||
