| 1020 Experimental Dept. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /CTS. {C. Trot Salt - Carburation} /MH. {M. Huckerby} 4th. November 1938. Wellworthy Piston Rings Ltd., Lymington, HANTS. For the attention of Mr. Walden. Dear Sirs, Further to our telephone conversation of Nov. 3rd. With reference to the bearing material mentioned, having high magnesium content (the maximum figure being 1.3%) This is to confirm than our suggestion is, that H.D.A. might supply you with ingots of known low magnesium so that in the remelt you could automatically provide the necessary correction. The only other alternative is to scrap the material. We would take this opportunity of making another suggestion. If you wish we could supply you with a certain quantity of AC.9 alloy, of known analysis. The purpose of this would be as a standby, so that in such cases as the one above where supplies from H.D.A. are outside specification, you could switch over to this spare material and thus cover yourselves on the question of delay re delivery of bearings. We are, of course, waiting for word from you about the meeting at Derby, but understand naturally, that you are busy with the Motor Cycle Show, etc. | ||
