This load is the limit we can get, the bellows are evidently collapsing. We resumed running of this car after repacking the water pump and fitting a new rubber joint of the feed pipe to the cylinders. The car now has had to return owing to an oil leak from one of the damper studs. This trouble is with the near side damper. The oil is working through one of the studs holding the valve chest and it does not seem as if we can stop it. It half empties the damper in a very short time, therefore we are going to fit a new stud if possible. G.W.H. Extract from letter (X.4057). | ||
