S/W. {Sales / Derby Works} PRIVATE.

To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} To await return.

Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 13/D29.7.31.

Dear Hives,

Referring to the enclosed, when I discussed this matter with Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} we both came to the conclusion that if the matter of building this car was mentioned to R. {Sir Henry Royce} he would want it to be a J.3. As a matter of fact this is exactly what he did want when Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} mentioned it to him, but it is just what I do not want.

Nevertheless, I believe, in order to get a move on to J.3, the best way will be for me to write you a memo., with a copy to R. {Sir Henry Royce} , asking you to build up a J.3 experimental car and to apply to West Wittering(Henry Royce's home town) for the specification and drawings to enable you to do so.

I propose to write a memo. on these lines within the next few days and I should be glad if you would explain to Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} in my absence the reason for doing this.

Yours sincerely,

H A Sidgreaves
