| -2- RM {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /RYM.3/PH.29.4.29. 29.G.VI. car with cast iron unit fitted with Twin S.U. carbs. has a 6.8 secs. gain from 10-70 M.P.H. over the standard car 28.G.VI. - both cars same weight. Oil temperature tests were obtained by running each car for 7 consecutive laps at full throttle in top gear and recording the figures each lap as follows:- 28.G.VI. Air Temp. Water Temp. Oil Temp. 1st. Lap 12.5°C 81°C 80°C 2nd. Lap 12.5°C 82°C 91°C 3rd. Lap 12.5° 83° 97° 4th. Lap 12.5° 83° 102° 5th. Lap 12.5° 83° 105° 6th. Lap 12.5° 83° 108° 7th. Lap 12.5° 83° 109° 29.G.VI. Sheet Metal Bottom Half. Air Temp. Water Temp. Oil Temp. 12.5°C 77°C 78°C 12.5° 77° 90° 12.5° 77° 99° 13° 77° 104° 13° 77° 108° 13° 77° 111° 13° 77° 113° Aluminium Bottom Half. 11°C 75°C 82°C 11° 76° 92° 11° 77° 100° 11° 77° 105° 11° 77° 108° 11° 77° 110° 11° 77° 112° As can be seen from the above figures there is little to choose between the aluminium and sheet metal bottom halves as regards oil temperatures, and only 3° to 4° between the | ||
