J.3. Gearbox.

We should like to try a reduced angle on the 2nd speed synchro-mesh locking cam and suggest 35° as shewn on N. Sch.3959 herewith.

We can regain some of the loss of locking effect which the reduced angle will cause by using the larger clutch cones as shewn on N. Sch.3893.

We should also like to try, as a separate experiment, the 35° cam angle with an 8° cone angle and the outer member of the clutch of bronze as shewn on N.Sch. 3959.
