We have carried out a test cutting out the filter on Hancock's car, and it made no appreciable difference. There are two other main differences between these cars - (1) The mounting of the petrol pump. (2) The arrangement of the induction pipe hot-spot. As far as we can ascertain at present, the latter undoubtedly has a bearing on the trouble, and a report will shortly be issued. On the Ph.III, where the flow of petrol through the filter is relatively greater than on the 20/25, this does appear to have some effect on starvation at high speeds on the road, though we have been unable to reproduce the trouble on the test bed.
