| 1023 February 15th.1938 Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Les.2/AP. Messrs.J.R.Engineering Co.Ltd., Pound Lane, Willesden, LONDON N.W.10. Dear Mr.Ridlington, I had a talk with Mr. Sidgreaves concerning your bumper bars last night. Mr.Sidgreaves thinks that the bumpers are still far too expensive, and is anxious that you should avoid any expensive features so that we only pay for good finish and material where it is required. We do not want to lower the standard of material, heat treatment or finish. In order to help the cost of the bumper FW.1110 we suggest the following simplified specification:- (1) Plain rolled ends with filled in eyes. These need not be different to other cars. If you have any alternative ends we shall be pleased to consider them. (2) No badge. (3) Over-riders are required. With this specification we are aiming at a figure of 30/- plus tool cost. We shall be very interested to hear your suggestions and will be pleased to help you where ever it is possible. If you think you can give us our requirements we shall be anxious to see a sample bumper. Yours sincerely, | ||
