Under date of the 24th inst. the N.V. Nederlandsche Vliegtuigenfabriek of Amsterdam, write as follows:-

" For comparison's sake we should be very much obliged if you can let us have some data on the heat carried away in the cooling water in your engines, when running full throttle in climb, that is about 1700 - 1750 revs.

Apart from the exact H.P. developed at the given revolutions we beg you to measure the following:
The quantity of water delivered by the water pump at the given number of revs. under the same conditions of head as in the machine, and the difference of temperature of the water before entering the pump and after leaving the engine, measured with a calibrated thermometer, in centigrades.-

From these figures it would be possible to calculate the number of heat-units per H.P. developed during climb, given off in the cooling water.

We shall be very much obliged to have these figures as exact as possible, preferably as an average for some engines.

Thanking you in advance for your kind assistance, "

Will you kindly let us know what we should reply?

Py/BLB.
