+328 To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} & RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} c. to Hx. We have discovered that the 3 production gearboxes and that fitted to 2-S-1 car have second speed synchromesh plunger springs to G.82312. These springs were originally instructed for use with the experimental parts to N.Sch.4136, which is no longer used. The correct spring is G.56217, which gives exactly twice the load of the others. Will you please see that these parts are instructed for production gearboxes. We think it would be as well if the 3 gearboxes at present assembled had the springs changed.
