| - 3 - ATTENTION TO WIRING. Particular attention should be paid to wiring of transportable units, and electrically heated tanks. These should be connected by wall plugs and sockets to the mains, with cab-tyre or other suitable flexible type cables - 3 core and earth. The existing cables are frequently damaged mechanically due to oil etc., and are therefore dangerous. HEATING TARE. On similar lines to J.11454. Glycol tank but capable of holding 15 to 20 gallons and maintaining 300°C. This is required for high temperature oil tests, such as expansion, and interference fit tests. To be transportable, and attachable to Albany auxiliary pumps. AUXILIARY PUMPS. Two Albany transportable auxiliary oil pumps for supplying fluids or draining tanks - suitable for oil water, glycol paraffin, etc., & and for supplying high temperature oil from heater to work in hand. These are promised for delivery on previous order by 2.12.36. LINE SHAFT. Continued along department extension. LIGHTING, HEATING, VENTILATION. More efficient lighting is required, not only on the benches, but generally. The heating arrangements also require improving, and the ventilation requires more careful consideration to cope with "Glycol", oil, CO2 fumes etc. In the above specifications Kestrel, Merlin, Phantom III and Bentley only are mentioned, but in assessing the requirements, a margin has been allowed, where considered necessary, for future types of engines, and the development of existing types. | ||
