On the above car which I have been using for the last few days, the starter does not function properly. There is a loud grating on depressing the starter pedal, the pinion apparently remaining out of mesh with the flywheel gearing in the majority of cases, and only gearing with it occasionally. This has since been discovered to be a broken spring. Presumably this is Bendix, and not our more recent standard Bijur. We are repairing the breakage.

I had not previously driven this car for a very long distance, but on this occasion I found the driver's seat to be very badly arranged in the upholstery, etc., fatally faulty in an old fault, the back being too hard at the top, and too soft lower down.

About 8 months ago we sent through 2 schemes (LECs. 1759 and 1761) shewing a RR. improved Bijur, and improved Bendix starter pinion. We do not appear to have had reports on these 2 experiments. Will you please let us have these at the earliest possible moment.
