TO EFC. FROM AJS. ORIGINAL. AJS1/M8.1.27. Copy to R.{Sir Henry Royce} " " BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} PHANTOM SEQUENCE STARTER No. 2. SCHEME. X7625 In reply to your EFC4/T6127., we expect to be able to forward to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} on Monday next the drawings for the windings. I shall be working this afternoon on these, in an endeavour to get well forward with the job. The few turns of coarse field winding make it rather awkward getting in the connections, and we believe it will be necessary to lengthen the carcase by .375 at the forward end, and .050 at the rear, to accommodate the windings. Would BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} kindly note this. Regarding the automatic switch unit the starter motor can be tested without this by rigging up the existing switch unit as was suggested by yourself, but I will however, pending instructions to the contrary from R.{Sir Henry Royce}, carry on with the design of this as soon as completing the winding instructions.
