RE. CAST DASH - PHANTOM & INDIA. X.5500 X.8500 X.7500

Both these dashes have now completed 10,000 miles test in France (10-G3 and 12-EX) without mechanical failure.

In order that we may be able to keep this job moving we would be glad if BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} would tell us -
(1) Whether there is any serious difficulty in the manufacture of the cast dash as at present designed, and if so, what it is.
(2) Whether the cost would be greater than that of a similar one constructed of sheet pieced together by riveting. It will be appreciated that the cast dash includes many items which are now separate from the dash, and which will help to reduce its real cost.

We would like Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to say whether he has been able to clearly demonstrate that the rigidity of the cast dash has caused vibrations to be felt on the steering wheel. If this is so, we will immediately send a scheme for over-coming the difficulty, which should not be a severe problem.
