Dear Mr. Berend, I have received your letter of the 5th.inst., together with Mr. Parson's memo. re. French Driving Licences. We have decided, upon your recommendation, to bring the cars to France on a triptyque, as this method appears to be much the simplest. With regard to Mr. Parson's memo., re. French Driving Licences, it appears that we shall not experience much difficulty in obtaining French Driving Licences once we are settled in France. The difficulty we shall experience in obtaining International Driving Licences is the fact that we are bringing over 12 XXX drivers for 3 cars, and these drivers will not be driving the same car all the time. As an international pass must be carried on each car, this means that we shall have to have 12 drivers' photographs and particulars on each pass. We do not expect we shall be able to do this, so we propose obtaining an International Pass for each car; each Pass giving particulars of three or four drivers. When we arrive in France we shall provide all the drivers with French Licences: by so doing, any driver will be able to drive either of the cars. With regard to any necessary practical driving test.
