Re: 'Cresta' Radiator, Wingstays, Horns and Front Apron - 4.B.50.

On PD.417 herewith we shew the front apron, and starting handle bearing required for the modernised frontal aspect of the "Cresta" 4.B.50, shewn on PD.380 ( Sheet 2). The apron will be produced by the coachbuilders and need not be detailed at this stage.

A modified starting handle bearing and bracket have been necessitated by the base of the radiator being lowered .750".

On PD.421 which is also herewith, we shew the revised shell and shutters of the radiator resulting from lowering the base of the shell as previously stated, and also due to the high "catwalk". The shell has been lengthened downwards by merely extending the present B.5. and B.38 form. The radiator intervals are those of B.38 for which you have already received designs.

As no headlamp tubes are required, it is not necessary to notch the yoke at this point.

PD.423 sheet 1 & 2, shew the top of the yoke, and the wingstays and horns.

It will be necessary to prepare a set of these and send them ( together with a pair of H.F. horns) to Messrs. Park Ward & Co. without delay.

A scheme is in hand (Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/JD{J. Draper - Frames}) for the bonnet rest strip which will join up with the radiator shell and the yoke.

We suggest that with these drawings, and without details Messrs. Marstons will be able to produce a radiator, as soon as the bonnet rest angle fixing can be given to them.

We have given BY/RD. a full scale drawing of the front wing to enable the headlamps which are mounted in them to be set-out.
