To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} X2748 C. to BJ. C. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}4/W30.1.24. Re Aluminium Pistons for pre-war Cars. We have carried out the following tests on a set of new Pistons : 9,200 miles on the engine dynamometer. Approximately 500 miles road running before and after the engine dynamometer test. The Cylinders and Pistons have been dismantled for examination, and they have stood the test extremely well. These Cylinders and Pistons can now be inspected should it be thought advisable. Will Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} please arrange for the Standardisation Sheets to be sent out, in order that we can have the proper authority to fit this type of Piston to pre-war cars in place of cast iron Pistons.
