Re: Chassis No. 62-LF. Noisy Tyres.

You will recollect that in a former memo on this matter I referred to the case of Hartridge - 62-LF, and said that I would write again after we had made a further test of these tyres in London.

I have now made this test using 70-EF, our Open Phantom Trials car for this purpose, with its existing tyres which are of the Traction tread type 6.75. It is a very nice smooth running car which has a certain amount of noise apparent in the tyres at higher speeds, but there is no vibration or roughness apparent.

The existing rear wheels were changed over to the rear wheels and tyres taken from 62-LF - Hartridge and the car was very definitely harsher and there was considerable vibration at low speeds and considerably more noise at high speeds, which can therefore only be attributed to these particular tyres, which are of the same pattern, i.e. traction tread, and were used at the same pressure.

I am therefore arranging that these two wheels and tyres shall be sent to you immediately without any alteration, so that you may experience the effects yourself and we should be glad to have Messrs. Dunlops report on the matter after these effects have been demonstrated to them.

CWB.
