Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY. Your Ref: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}10/MH.{M. Huckerby} Dear Sirs, Beg to thank you for your letter of yesterday's date with Blue Print SCD 731 of 17" diameter wheel fitted with detachable disc. In view of past experience, viz: necessity of allowing for "kerbing," we respectfully suggest it will be advisable to lower the tip end protuberance through disc, and apart from shortening our No. 7833 Extension, which is standard with all disc manufacturers equipping Rolls Royce chassis, we do not feel that the design can be improved upon without considerable development costs. We send you herewith Blue Print embodying your wheel and disc detail, with a modified No. 7833 type extension added, and should be glad if you will pass us your comments. The locking nut for outside of disc has been intentionally omitted. We supply three different designs for Messrs. Cornercroft, Barkers and Ewarts, all of whom desire some external appearance feature identifiable with themselves. For test purposes we can offer a standard form of clamp nut which is quite efficient, but in the event of production we would like to discuss the external clamp nut design with you further, as frankly we would wish to avoid offending the susceptibilities of those wheel disc makers, | ||
