Attention of Mr. A.C. Ross
Vice-President

Dear Mr. Ross:

This will acknowledge your letter of May 15th and we note that you have just received advice from England that the sample radiator tubes have worked out very satisfactorily. This of course is very pleasing information.

We further note what you say regarding the improbability of your friends in England purchasing these tubes from us on account of the very strong feeling prevailing in Britain regarding the purchase of British-made goods.

We would be willing to supply the necessary equipment in order to produce these tubes at the Rolls-Royce works in Derby, England. The cost of the equipment could be held to a very low figure providing your people might wish to consider the purchase of extruded tubes as they come from the extrusion press. These tubes could be considered more or less as raw material. Upon receipt of these tubes in England it would only be necessary to saw them into the required lengths and also to hex and baffle the tube and finish test. This would mean a Sawing Machine, and Expanding Machine and a Testing Machine. We would be willing to furnish this equipment all tooled up and ready for operation with complete information and data as to the most efficient and practical method of operating and servicing the equipment.

It might be possible that your friends in England would prefer to extrude the tubes for use not only in Rolls-Royce radiators but also with the idea in mind of perhaps creating a real market for airplane radiator tubes, etc., for use in Great Britain. We would be pleased to furnish an extrusion press, properly tooled and in order that your friends might keep down their investment a plan might be worked out whereby we would supply the copper cups ready for extrusion into long tubes. In this way it would eliminate the necessity of purchasing the Shearing Press, Indenting and Flattening Press, together with an annealing furnace, washing equipment, etc.
