re Rear Suspension - Myth.

We give below a resume of our criticisms of your design PL.370.

1. Delete all full nuts and use lock nuts.
2. Use Square headed bolts.
3. Change shackle links to this section [drawing of a stepped link] with the depression facing inwards and reduce width in the side elevation.
4. Reduce metal around tapers at each end of the shackle link and the central boss in the case of the 1st. design.
5. Add mahhining faces on the inside of the shackle links at top and bottom.
6. In alternative shackle design delete top through bolt and put thread on threaded shackle.
7. Give press fit of threaded shackle bush in frame.
8. Provide a scheme for centralised chassis lubrication to the threaded bearing of the shackle.
9. Shape plates of front spring fixing, and reduce diameter of end boss.
10. Move up larger bottom bolt of front spring fixing plate on frame.
11. Reduce frame width in plan to 1.875 ins.
12. Revise design of rubber spigot for spring centre bolt.
13. Raise shock damper as indicated and lengthen link as indicated on our layout. Set out geometry of link in side elevation and in end elevation, with car under normal load. (.750" before full bump) and one wheel on full bump, and also next on full rebound.
14. Draw section through the damper link and shape links to reduce weight.
