CONNECTING RODS - WITH LEAD BRONZE BEARINGS.

Examination of the connecting rod bearings show them to be in a 100% condition. This is with the use of Castrol Tonic XL. oil. A further mileage is now to be run using Wakefield CR.{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester} oil.

FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH. LOP. G.56696.

There has been a quantity of oil leak into the clutch case from the rear of the engine. It has not, however, entered the clutch or fumes caused any clutch slip. The spline bearing produced in gun metal has reduced the tendency of the clutch spigot shaft to rust, but is not entirely free from its effects. The clutch was not free from juggers when engaging with second gear. It has improved and the friction damper on the cylinder block further improved it. It was inclined to grab upon the final engagement. The clutch dismantled shown it to be in an excellent condition. It is the freest from dust that we have ever seen. There is no deposit anywhere. The clutch fabrics are in good condition, and the friction faces of the pressure plates are from from scoring.

ENGINE MOUNTING.

[Handwritten in left margin: Urgent]

The engine has dropped at the front end approximately .125". The starting handle will not engage in the dogs. The rear mounting has not dropped. The front stay from engine to cross member does not show the wear in the pins as experienced in the last trip. The riveted flanges in the front cross member supporting the front engine guard are loose. The rear spring loaded stay from pedal shaft to engine shows no wear.

GEAR BOX. LOP. G.54796.

The ease of change has been consistent. Gears are up to standard for quietness when engaged. The continuous gears have been uneven, and could be heard when idling. No gears have come out of mesh. A slight amount of slack developed in the rear bearing, and oil leaked out of same. The change speed lever rattled.

SERVO MOTOR MECHN. LOP. G.50588 FRICTION LINING OF VK.32 MATERIAL FITTED.

The Servo has been efficient throughout the mileage. It squeaked on several occasions during the first part of the mileage. It has not squeaked during the latter 8,000 miles. The condition of the fabrics is good.

PROPELLOR SHAFT. ED.{J. L. Edwards}3911 CL.785 DAMPER FLYWHEEL ON TRANSMISSION.

The propellor shaft has given no trouble. The mechanics joints show no wear and have been free from leaks.
