x Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}6/JH. 22nd. June, 1937. Messrs. Ferodo Ltd., Chapel-en-le-Frith. For the attention of Mr. Longley. Dear Sirs, We are sending to you today per Passenger train, a 13¼" clutch plate Ex.23082A and regret the delay. Will you kindly carry out bursting tests with your latest S6/77 facings, after drilling, and let us know the results. We are of opinion that a plate for the Phantom III should be able to stand up to at least 6000 R.P.M. We would be interested to know if you consider there would be any appreciable deterioration in the strength of the material as a result of heating to which it might be subjected in the hands of a bad driver? Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
