In the following, the defects peculiar to each damper are given :-

FRONT F.57908 L.O.P.

NEAR SIDE.

Loads checked at 90/115 lb. as originally set.

The ballend pin was .00075" oval.

In the connecting tube, both the inner, and outer lower ball pads were good. The top inner pad was also good, but the outer pad was scored. All other details as in general report.

OFF SIDE.

Loads checked at 105/115 lb., thus the L.P. load was 10 to 15 lb., over the original setting.

The bell end pin measured .0025" oval; this was the worst of the set. In the connecting tube, the inner and outer lower ball pads, also the top outer pad, were scored, the top inner ball pad however was good. All other details as in general report.

REAR F.57888 L.O.P.

NEAR SIDE.

This was the worst damper in the set.

As previously remarked in the general report, the oil was "muddy", leaving a deposit on the filter.

Both air vents were out of action due to the adjusting screws trapping the valves.

The loads checked at 90/110 lb., the H.P. load thus being - 5 lb.

Both main shaft and large diameter bearing were correspondingly scored lightly, the shaft being blackened at this section, but there was no appreciable decrease in the diameter.

Both piston contact pads had the light .0005" groove, but in addition, the L.P. pad had "flaked" badly; the H.P. pad was just slightly pitted.

The contact surface of this intermediate lever was very poor, and had evidently been stoned by hand to some semblance of smoothness, but there were still two grooves in the
