To Bentley Motors (1931) Ltd. Derby ......................Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Levallois Sr/VAI/GM.3.2.37 re: CHASSIS B.107.GP - Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DUBONNET. ------------------------------------- As the above owner is a fast driver, we would like to have this car in a few days time so that we can tighten up the bearings and fit R.R.56 liners. Sr. has asked me to drop you a line and say that as Mr. Dubonnet has mentioned that the oil pressure drops after a fast run, we are going to dismantle from chassis B.26.JD{J. Draper - Frames} Mr. P.L. Dreyfus, the large capacity oil pump and necessary pipes and fit them to the above chassis. Sr. says that in view of the fact that Mr. Dubonnet is a very fast driver, he (Sr) will feel more happy when a large capacity oil pump has been fitted. We certainly do not want anything to happen to this car because the owner has assisted in the sale of two Bentley cars and makes very good propaganda for us. As Mr. P.L. Dreyfus's car will not be ready before the beginning of next month, we shall be glad to receive a replacement large capacity oil pump and necessary pipes for his car, not later than the end of this month. Sr. has asked me to ask you that should you have something new to offer in the way to oil pumps, then please send one for Mr. Dreyfus's car. Sr/VA.VL{V. Lewis / Mr Valentine} P.S. Since this memo. was typed, we have paid a visit to Messrs. Vanvooren, and have had a look at the oil pump on chassis B 26 JD.{J. Draper - Frames} As far as we were able to tell from the external appearance of it, it looks as if it is like one of the small capacity type. Would you please confirm if this is so ? Sr says that he understands that this car has been fitted with Hall's metal bearings, and that extra holes have been drilled in the crankshaft, and obviously a large capacity oil pump ? [Handwritten notes on document] [Top centre, above 're:'] Solex [Top left, over first paragraph] Swell was. Presume small pump fitted because no large pump available P.M. | ||
