This modified Wraith II type end plug was devised to overcome this difficulty, an extended lug being provided to register with the tube slot before the rubber came under compression. It was found to be practically impossible to fit the top caps until the following modifications were made :-

(a). The radius in the neck (joining the lug to the disc) of the end plug, FW.852, was removed, and the disc also slightly relieved on the diameter near to the neck.

(b). The guide hole in the top cap FW.851 was increased from .687" to .718" diameter.

The two connecting tubes fitted to the Wraith II Bump Chassis were modified as above.

Originally, the spigot of the end plug tightened in the bore of the end cap due to the pressure of the rubber under compression on the lug. Possibly, by decreasing the clearance between the outer radius of the lug, and the inside diameter of the end cap, the two modifications quoted above could be eliminated.
