This is to confirm that, as discussed with you, we are abandoning the above application in view of Lagonda's Patent 470520.

As we cannot do anything effective with our specification to meet this citation by the British Patent Office, we consider it would be impolitic to pursue our application.

Mr. Leslie has informed us that he verbally communicated the invention to Mr. Bentley before the latter left this Company.

We have gone into the point and are advised that the best thing to do will be to put the matter before Mr. Bentley personally if we contemplate adopting the scheme. If he is not open to giving us a free licence and carries the matter to the point of suing us for infringement, we can plead in defence that the invention was "obtained" from us by him.
